Volunteer Tutoring Opportunities for the New School Year

UUCA’s Partnership with Hope-Hill Elementary and the Old Fourth Ward is in its 20th year!  You already know what a rewarding experience it is to help a child.  As the start of a new academic year approaches, we’re excited about this unique time and the continuing needs of our UUCA-HHES partnership.

The new principal of Hope-Hill Elementary School, Ms. Maureen Wheeler, has an impressive record and enthusiastically welcomes our participation in helping her take students to higher levels of academic success.

There are many great opportunities for volunteers to get involved this year:

Before school  7:15 am – 8:00 am  This is a brand-new program, beginning the week of August 19, for K, 1st, and 2nd graders getting up to speed with letters, words, numbers, and colors.  The school will provide necessary materials.

During school      8:00 am – 2:30 pm   Assisting teachers with instruction in their classrooms

After school         2:30 pm – 4:00 p.m. (Buses will be arranged beginning in October)

After School Classé  homework help

Clubs (Math, Science, and potentially others – e.g., sewing, chorus, chess, Legos, etc.)

To volunteer, submit our volunteer form and stop by the PTC/Hope-Hill table in the social hall, or contact one of these folks:
